In our endeavour to sensitize the students on responsible “online” behaviour, The Shri Ram School observed the Cyber Safety Week from May 01, 2017 to May 05, 2017.
The week started with a special Assembly where the students were shown a TED talk by Paul Davis on “Accountability and Responsibility in the Digital World”, followed by a talk on Cyber Safety by our guest speaker from Tata Consultancy Services, Mr. Prasenjit Das. He spoke about current threats and trends in this field. The assembly was concluded with a nukkad naatak presented by the members of the school’s Drama Society. Through their presentation, they highlighted the hind sight of the cyber world.
On the same day, some selected students from classes 9 to 12 participated in the first panel discussion to draft the Charter on Cyber Ethics of the school. The discussion was chaired by Mr. Prasenjit Das.
As part of the ongoing activities during the week, students were involved in many engaging activities, such as, poster making, bookmark designing, comic strip making, movie making, mascot/ logo designing, slogan writing, etc. The students were also shown videos in their respective classes to sensitize them towards Cyber Safety, the threats that the cyber world may pose and how to protect themselves to make the whole experience in the cyber world a pleasant one.
In sync with the idea behind the observance of the Cyber Safety Week, Our Director, Ms. Manika Sharma also connected to the parent’s community sharing her concerns on the issue. In her message, she emphasized the need to strike a balance between the time spent “online” and “offline”. She also stressed upon the need to have “Detox weekends” to “connect” with their children and “talk” to them.
A newsletter was also released by the school’s editorial board and mailed to all the students.
